Yael Osman, Psy.D., graduated with her doctoral degree in Combined School-Clinical Psychology from Kean University in August 2022. She completed her predoctoral internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the Child Adolescent Psychology Track. In this role, Dr. Osman provided consultation to the Department of Children Services (DCS), treated children, adolescents, and families in VUMC’s outpatient clinic, conducted comprehensive psychological evaluations on children in state custody, and conducted competency to stand trial evaluations for juveniles. Dr. Osman completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Child and Family Forensic Evaluation Service at William James College. In this role she conducted child custody evaluations, administered psychological testing, and assisted with William James’ High Conflict Parenting Classes.
Dr. Osman’s clinical interests and expertise include working with populations impacted by child maltreatment, trauma, and other forms of adversity. She is trained in TF-CBT (trauma focused - cognitive behavioral therapy) and has experience working with children who have been victims of abuse, neglect, and/or complex trauma. Additionally, Dr. Osman has experience treating a wide variety of mental health symptomatology in children, adolescents, and adults including depression, anxiety, ADHD, and disruptive behavior disorders. She operates from a family systems perspective and utilizes techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to support clients through personal growth and to empower clients to feel in control of the change process. Dr. Osman also enjoys providing coaching to parents, both individually and jointly. In this role, she focuses on providing parents with concrete skills for addressing challenges in the coparenting dynamic and reducing stress, thereby allowing coparents to work collaboratively and respectfully with one another.
Dr. Osman is accepting cases for January 2024 for therapy, child custody evaluations (Category E GAL), parenting coaching, and parenting coordination.
