Fees
Cost of services vary depending on the clinician and the specific service provided. Fees range from $150-$500/hour. We do offer a sliding fee option for potential clients who apply to our ACCESS program.
It is important to note that we do not accept insurance. We are unable to accept insurance for several reasons:
There is more confidentiality and autonomy when you take a third-party (the insurance company) out of your treatment. We do not have to submit notes regarding your private affairs for insurance review.
Insurance companies require a diagnosis to be treated. A diagnosis can follow you the rest of your life. It can impact litigation. It can raise insurance costs. It can affect your employment and certain careers. When you’re self-pay, you don’t have to have a diagnosis to continue to get treatment. Many of our clients do not have diagnoses nor do they need them, but instead, they need support through a challenging time in their lives.
Without insurance dictating your treatment, you and your clinician have more autonomy to determine how often and how long your sessions will be as well as the specific treatment goals and modalities. This can lead to better results in a shorter amount of time.
Some of our services do not qualify for insurance reimbursement, even if you submit a superbill.
For qualifying services, SDFS will not bill your insurance directly, but may generate a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider. You should address with SDFS before the start of services to determine whether a superbill is possible.
Clinical services (therapy)
Clinical Services are billed based on a 50-minute clinical hour. Payment is requested in full at the time of service. Clients may choose to pay at the start of each session or by providing a monthly retainer. SDFS does not communicate with or bill any insurance carriers directly. However, upon request and for qualifying services, SDFS will generate a bill for you to submit to your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement.
Forensic services
Forensic Services are billed based on a 60-minute hour. Payment is typically deducted from retainer funds held against anticipated costs. These details are clarified in advance depending on your service as part of your fee agreement with SDFS.
Payment is accepted by Zelle, check, or credit card. All payments should be made to SD Family Services, Inc.
