SD Family Services provides evidence-based, compassionate therapy services for individuals, couples, and families. Our licensed clinicians specialize in addressing emotional, relational, and behavioral challenges through a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to client needs.
Individual Therapy for Children, Teens, and Adults
Using a range of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, narrative, and solution-focused methods, we support clients in setting goals and taking an active role in their mental health.
Couples Therapy and Relationship Counseling
Need help improving your relationship or navigating a breakup? We provide couples therapy for married and unmarried partners looking to enhance communication, rebuild trust, or reduce conflict. We also support couples choosing to part ways with care, offering guidance to separate respectfully and with minimal emotional damage—especially important for co-parenting success.
Discernment Counseling for Couples on the Brink of Divorce
What is discernment counseling? Discernment counseling is a short-term therapy designed for couples unsure about staying together or separating. If one partner is leaning out of the relationship, this approach helps both gain clarity and confidence in the decision-making process.
This structured model helps answer: Can this relationship be saved, and are both of us willing to try?
Group Therapy for Children, Teens, and Adults
We offer therapeutic support groups for those affected by divorce, separation, and family change. Our group therapy options are available for children (elementary age), teens (middle and high school), and adults. Group therapy helps participants process emotions, share experiences, and gain coping strategies from others facing similar life transitions.

Family Therapy for Communication and Connection
Our family therapy sessions help improve communication, resolve conflict, and build stronger bonds. We assess each family’s strengths, challenges, and goals, offering a customized treatment plan that may include parenting support, individual counseling, or joint sessions. We use psychoeducation, emotional regulation tools, and structured dialogue to foster healthier family dynamics and lasting change.
Family Therapy for Parent-Child Contact Problems - "Reunification Therapy"
Struggling with parent-child contact issues? Our specialized services—often referred to as reunification therapy—support families navigating high-conflict separations or court-involved custody disputes. We begin with individual and joint sessions with parents before including children, ensuring emotional safety and appropriate pacing.
Court orders are often required. Please contact us before including a clinician in your court order to ensure availability and proper documentation.
Therapeutic Parenting Time (TPT)
Therapeutic Parenting Time is for families in need of structured, clinician-guided visitation to support positive parent-child interactions. In TPT sessions, we facilitate communication, correct misaligned parenting approaches, and promote secure attachment. Parents receive feedback, coaching, and psychoeducation to better understand and meet their child’s needs.
TPT may be court-ordered or mutually agreed upon. A clear agreement on the number or termination point of sessions is required prior to starting.
Stepfamily Therapy and Blended Family Counseling
Navigating a blended family? Stepfamily therapy helps couples and children adjust to new roles, relationships, and expectations. Our clinicians work with biological parents, stepparents, and siblings to reduce conflict, promote inclusion, and strengthen family bonds. Whether you're struggling with discipline disagreements, loyalty conflicts, or co-parenting tension, we’re here to help you create a healthy, supportive stepfamily environment.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for providing the Guide to Aligning Professionals that you recently offered in the latest AFCC newsletter.
I am a therapist and my husband is a family law attorney, and we have lamented for years on how difficult it is to get professionals to collaborate for the good of children and families in these types of cases. he guide is well-written and quite comprehensive. The summary tables, definitions of terms and roles, and sample language for court orders were great pieces to include. I also appreciated the acknowledgement that many cases do not present with adequate resources to include the multiple professionals that would make everyone’s roles easier to clarify. That is the situation nearly all of the time here in outstate Nebraska, where my husband and I live and practice. We often struggle with the silo approach and with dual roles that muddy the waters. I plan to keep this guide handy and use it to illustrate points, as needed along the way, with parents and fellow therapists.
I printed your guide just now and plan to read it at home tonight and share it with my husband. Here’s the guide.

On behalf of the Society of Clinical & Child Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP) leadership, one of the goals for our organization was to make SCCAP more relevant and valuable for our members – a reason to stay engaged with us beyond the student years. Our vision centered around offering impactful education, featuring content with real-world applicability, and inviting credible subject matter experts who not only share their expertise but also have A++ delivery. Dr. Deck’s presentation on therapeutic work with children and families of divorce embodied everything we had hoped for—and truly exceeded our expectations for the webinar program. The way you commanded the audience and delivered such practical, insightful content was exactly what our webinar program needed and I think is a huge boost for our members.

I had the great pleasure of working with Premela in her new clinical mediation program. Not only is Premela an excellent mediator, she is also kind enough to devote her time and energy into developing new programming to support families and children in high conflict situations. Her ability to organize the thoughts and conflicting energies of her clients is very impactful and I am exceedingly grateful to have had the chance to learn from her techniques. I would recommend Premela and her practice for any matters of family law and/or clinical work. She knows what she’s doing, that’s for sure.
