Dr. Amdria Aristil is a clinical psychology postdoctoral fellow at SD Family Services. She completed her doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at William James College with a focus in Children and Family of Adversity and Resilience and African and Caribbean Mental Health. She earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from William James in June 2022 with a focus in Marriage and Family Therapy and African and Caribbean Mental Health. She completed her pre-doctoral APA accredited internship at the Brenner Assessment and Consultation Center at William James College. In this role, Dr. Aristil conducted comprehensive neuropsychological assessments with children and adults to evaluate neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders, formulate diagnostic impressions, and provide evidence-based recommendations. In addition, she collaborates with schools and community providers to coordinate care while delivering evidence-based therapy and parent coaching to children and their families through the Youth and Family Psychotherapy Services at William James College.

Dr. Aristil’s clinical interests and expertise include working with at-risk adolescents and their families, as well as individuals impacted by trauma and other forms of adversity. She has extensive experience providing assessment and therapeutic services across a variety of clinical settings, including in-home therapy, public and therapeutic schools, residential treatment programs, outpatient clinics, and emergency departments. Dr. Aristil is passionate about collaborating with parents to develop effective strategies that strengthen communication skills, foster positive parent-child relationships, and promote developmentally appropriate discipline practices. Her clinical approach is multidisciplinary and strength-based, integrating evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. Her overarching goal is to foster emotional regulation, strengthen adaptive coping skills, and promote healthy communication within a safe, supportive, and nurturing family environment.
