Pricing and Payment Information
Service fees vary depending on the clinician and the type of service provided. Rates typically range from $150 to $500 per hour. For clients who qualify, a sliding scale option is available through our ACCESS program to help make services more affordable. If you’re interested in financial assistance, please let us know. We’re happy to guide you through the application process.
Insurance Policy
Please note: SDFS does not accept insurance for direct billing. Here’s why:
- Greater Privacy: We don’t share your private session notes with third parties for insurance review.
- No Required Diagnosis: Insurance companies often require a formal diagnosis to approve treatment. A diagnosis can remain in your health record permanently, potentially affecting litigation, insurance rates, or employment opportunities. Our self-pay model allows you to seek help without a required diagnosis.
- More Autonomy: You and your clinician choose the frequency, duration, and goals of treatment—without insurance company restrictions.
- Not All Services Qualify: Some of our offerings don’t meet insurance reimbursement criteria, even if you submit a superbill.
For qualifying services, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Please discuss this with us before starting services to see if a superbill is possible.
Clinical Services Pricing
Clinical Services (Therapy)
- Billed as a 50-minute clinical hour.
- Payment is due in full at the time of service.
- Clients pay an upfront retainer.
- SDFS does not bill insurance directly, but can generate a superbill for qualifying services upon request.
Forensic Services Pricing
Forensic Services
- Billed as a 60-minute hour.
- Payment is typically drawn from retainer funds held for anticipated costs.
- Specific payment details are confirmed in advance in your service fee agreement.
